Dana Sury-Barot, Ph.D. | Postdoctoral Fellow
My research interests lie in the field of cognitive development with a focus on learning disabilities. I graduated Ph.D. at the Edmond J. Safra Brain Research Center for the Study of Learning Disabilities, Department of Learning Disabilities, Faculty of Education., University of Haifa, Israel. My dissertation focused on the neurocognitive mechanisms that stand in the heart of mathematical ability. During my post-doc, I study the relationships between mathematical achievement and cognitive systems that are specific to numerical cognition compared to domain-general mechanisms associated with language and reading skills. In One of my strengths as a researcher comes from working as a clinician specialized in diagnosis and intervention for children and adults who struggle with learning disabilities. This clinical experience has contributed to my research skills and scope. My goal is to study the early cognitive and neural markers of reading and mathematical learning disorders in young children as a mean to develop targeted assessment and interventions at the age of heightened brain plasticity.
