Katie Sevier | incoming Ph.D. student

Katie is a Ph.D. student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She holds an A.B. in Psychology from Harvard College, where she completed the Mind/Brain/Behavior (Cognitive Science) track in psychology and minored in Educational Studies. Her research focuses on how self-perception and disability identity shape learning and mental health outcomes in children. As an undergraduate, she conducted her honors thesis with the Gaab Lab, exploring the mental health impacts of self-perception in students with learning disabilities. Building on lived experience and professional work in disability education, Katie aims to advance inclusive educational practices across disability types with a focus on empowering disabled learners. She has led accessibility audits, guest lectured on disability topics, and co-developed the Harvard course Why Braille Matters. Her work is driven by a commitment to equity and improving educational systems for students with disabilities.
