Prospective Ph.D. Students

Thank you for your interest in the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s (HGSE’s) Ph.D. program!

Recognizing that the admissions process can be inequitable based on a number of factors, this page is intended to provide prospective applicants with general – and equal – information about what I, Nadine Gaab, look for in a Ph.D. applicant. In particular, in this page I provide responses to several questions that I often get from prospective doctoral students.

Frequently Asked Questions

‍Thank you for your interest in applying to our Ph.D. program in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). The doctoral students I teach and work with are the highlights of my job.

On this page, I ask and answer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) from prospective applicants interested in working with me. My answers reflect my own preferences and experiences, not those of my colleagues, my program, nor other Ph.D. programs. For official descriptions of the program and official guidance about our admissions process, please see the Harvard Ph.D. in Education admissions website here.
